Benjamin Cormerais

Loire Valley, France

It was in August 2021 that a superb opportunity presented itself to Benjamin and Anthony. Indeed, a winegrower at the end of his career, separates from a superb Clos at the entrance to the town of Maisdon- sur-Sèvre.
It was then that after the 2021 harvest, the 2 winegrowers decided to take over this vineyard, thus the Domaine de GRANITS was born. The parcel left a little abandoned is then put back in order. Posts changed, replacement of dead vines, repair of trellising, etc. The enclosure is now very well maintained, to the delight of the neighborhood, happy to see the conservation of this Clos. It is located in the heart of the Sèvre et Maine appellation at the highest point in the village of Maisdon-sur-Sèvre.
Benjamin CORMERAIS and Anthony BRANGER, are both from the family of winegrowers.
Anthony, son of a winegrower, studied viticulture in the Muscadet appellation. He then left for a while to earn his spurs in Bordeaux. After this experience in the heart of a red appellation, Anthony decided to return to his native town and went to work as an employee at the Domaine de la Bretonnière, managed by Bertrand CORMERAIS, Benjamin’s father.
Benjamin, 5th generation of a family of winegrowers, will study oenology and viticulture in Bommes in the Sauternes appellation, while being an apprentice in a domain and wine nursery in the Graves de Bordeaux appellation. He then returned to the Loire Valley, studying international wine trade at the Ecole Supérieure d’Agriculture in Angers. The studies finished, 1 left for 1 year in Australia to discover the vineyards and the different methods of vine management and vinification for the wines of the New World.
