Fradiles, or ‘cousins’ in the Sardinian language, was founded in the Sardinian town of Atzara, where the craft of winemaking has been rooted since the ages. The winery, originated as a revival of an old family farm, springs from the passion for the traditions and culture of vineyard farming and winemaking. The winery is located in proximity to the vineyards, which allows for hand-picking at harvest, immediately followed by vinification. This is the place where passions merge into a wine that stands out for its Denominazione di Origine Controllata “Mandrolisai”, the name of its territory.

The Fradiles vineyards are in the Mandrolisai, an enchanted place, full of archaic charm, with an endless, magical horizon: meadows and fallow land, mountains covered with oaks and chestnut, hills overgrown with ilex and holly woods interspersed with vineyards as far as the eye can see, stretched along the flanks and pinned to the slopes of the hills, with their ever-varying, bright colors, basking in the Sardinian sun.

Among these gentle hills the vines are represented by local varieties: Bovale Sardo, Cannonau, Monica and other autochthonous species. The winemaker constantly inspects the state of the soil and the vines, monitoring each step of the vinification process and each phase that accompanies the wines on their way to the bottle.

The winemaking endeavors to recuperate and safeguard the viticultural heredity under severe quality standards, producing wines that are both elegant in their simplicity and of superior quality because vinification procedures are effectively tied to traditions that bring forth wine with unmistakable character. Fradiles refers to the customs of the past to catch the soul of the Atzara region in our wines.
